Solar Power Pros is a Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer for Colorado. We’re thrilled to be your go-to storage experts for the latest Powerwall 3. This advanced model is a fully integrated solar and battery system designed to meet your home’s current and future power needs, offering increased capacity and easy expandability in a single unit. The majority of battery incentives listed here apply to this model. Let’s make your energy goals a reality—let’s talk Powerwall 3!
The Renewable Battery Connect program is designed to optimize energy usage by managing local battery storage during peak demand periods. By participating, you not only reduce your reliance on the grid but also contribute to stabilizing Colorado’s energy infrastructure. You can think about your battery like a connected energy storage network that increases resilience for you and your neighbors. It’s a strategic move for your wallet and a win for our community.
By participating in the Renewable Battery Connect program, you receive a cash incentive in exchange for allowing Xcel Energy the ability to automatically manage your battery during periods of peak energy demand (AKA a “load control event”).
Xcel can schedule up to 60 control events annually to manage battery usage during peak demand. On other days, your battery operates per your normal settings. After each event, they leave at least 40% battery capacity. Be aware that Excel will NOT give you advance notice before a control event, but you can monitor battery usage via your battery app.
Solar Power Pros is solely installing the Tesla Powerwall 3 as a part of this rebate program. To participate, you must be an Xcel Energy Colorado electric residential customer and install a Tesla Powerwall 3 on your home.
This Xcel battery rebate is calculated from the total battery equipment cost, so it may vary based on the kilowatt (kW) size of your battery. Equipment cost calculations do not include labor, nor do they take out state or federal incentives. Incentive payments arrive 60 days after you’re installed and Xcel Energy grants you “permission to operate.
All scenarios offer a $100 annual participation incentive for participating in control events (for 5 years). Additionally, you’ll receive the lesser of $500 per kW of energy storage installed or 50% of the equipment-only cost.
Our pros can customize a battery quote based on the energy needs of your home.
Cost breakdown is for example purposes only, everyone’s solar installation is different.
For those who live in Xcel Disproportionately Impacted Communities (DI Communities), the Renewable Battery Connect calculation allows for greater savings. You’d still receive the $100 annual participation incentive for participating in control events (for 5 years). Plus, you’ll receive the lesser of $800 per kW of energy storage installed or 75% of the equipment-only cost.
To qualify, your residence must be located in a Disproportionately Impacted Community (DI-Community), as identified on the EnviroScreen map developed by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Our Pros can help determine whether you are eligible for this program.
Denver’s Home Energy Rebate program helps residents improve energy efficiency and reduce natural gas use in their homes. It offers an upfront rebate for battery storage, avoiding the need for later reimbursement. The Climate Action Rebate program provides $500 for battery installation costs. There’s an added benefit if you already have a heat pump, heat pump water heater, or bidirectional EV charger, increasing your rebate to $2,750. In either case, your incentive cannot exceed 80% of your total project costs.
Don’t wait to act on this rebate! Funding is almost gone for the year. Get started today.
Denver’s Home Energy Rebate Program also offers a rebate for Electric Service Upgrades. This includes SPAN electrical panels. When paired with a solar battery, a SPAN Panel can increase your energy efficiency, saving you money long term. Gain greater control over your home’s energy from anywhere via the app and maximize your battery efficiency.
Receive up to a $2,000 rebate (not to exceed 80% of the project cost) on your SPAN Panel.
Electric service upgrades are only available when paired with one of their other Home Energy Rebates, like the Denver Climate Action battery rebate above.
Colorado state offers an exciting 10% tax credit on battery hardware, providing additional savings on your energy upgrades. Installing Tesla Powerwall 3 equipment could save you up to $1,200. Simply file for this credit during tax season following your installation, similar to the federal tax credit. To take advantage of this opportunity, use the DR-1307 form when you file your taxes.
Residential solar installations in Colorado qualify for the federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC), which covers solar batteries along with solar panels, installation costs, and permitting fees—enabling you to reduce your federal tax liability by 30% of the total costs of your solar and battery installation.
The United States first deployed the federal tax credit for solar panels in 2006, with subsequent extensions, most recently under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. Under this legislation, the 30% solar tax credit applies to installations completed between 2022 and 2032, after which it will gradually decrease and phase out.
